Windows 7 Enterprise

I have been a bit out of action Today, I had my Laptop rebuilt, and decided to follow the proper channels to do it. This means having some idiot formatting and rebuilding it, but if I wanted to continue to use WIN7 on my Work laptop…this was the route I had to follow.

So… since the rebuild I’ve been striggling to …
- Get my LCD Screen as a dual monitor detected
- Get ma Admin rights back
- Install Visual Studio 2010, which is taking for-FREAKING-ever!!
- I lost my static IP

Needless to say, I will be blogging to full capacity again tomorrow…

Windows 7 SP1 details…

Details are slowly rising to the surface of the interwebs on what SP1 will have for windows 7. This straight from TechMeme:

“The first inklings of a public Windows 7 SP1 beta program are beginning to emerge, with hidden registry keys and a leaked list of post-RTM build numbers surfacing on the Web. ‘Beyond the obvious bug fixes and security patches, we’ll no doubt see support for the new USB 3.0 standard. Likewise, enhancements to the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi stacks will be slipstreamed in, allowing Windows 7 to retain its mantle as the most easily configured version ever,’ writes InfoWorld’s Randall Kennedy. ‘But perhaps the most significant “update” to come out of Service Pack 1 will be the fact that it exists at all, and that by delivering it to market Microsoft will be signaling that it is now OK for IT shops to pull the trigger on their Windows 7 deployments.’”

All I can say is USB3 Baby!!! yeah!!!

3…2…1..Windows 7 Launch!!

The launch of Microsoft’s latest O/S has come and is almost gone. I am seriously considering getting myself a copy, a legal one. Which means I would be able to to updates! Wh000p! Not that I would, but i could!

The launch went hand in hand with the first opening of a Microsoft store, here are some photos:

Microsoft_Store3

This is without a doubt Microsoft’s best O/S ever! Here are the opinions of some of the most important and influential companies out there:

CNET – “Windows 7 presents a stable platform that can compete comfortably with OS X, while reassuring the world that Microsoft can still turn out a strong, useful operating system.”

PCWorld – “…the final shipping version I test-drove appears to be the worthy successor to Windows XP that Vista never was.”

NYTimes – “[Microsoft's] three-year Windows Vista nightmare is over.”

IT Pro – “Windows 7…is competent and functional due to internal improvements and the user interface is attractive and good for productivity.”

Guardian – “Windows 7 is simply the best version of Windows you can get.”

Slate – “Indeed, the new Windows is not only the best operating system that Microsoft has ever produced. It is arguably the fastest, most intuitive, and most useful consumer desktop OS on the market today.”

Maximum PC – “…Windows 7 is unquestionably the best version of Windows that Microsoft has ever released, and is the true successor to Windows XP.”

PC Mag – “It’s far and away the best OS we’ve ever seen from Microsoft.”

Wall Street Journal – “I believe it is the best version of Windows Microsoft has produced.”

Engadget – “Where Vista felt like a sprawling mess, Windows 7 has patched up the holes and feels like a tight, unified mechanism.”

Telegraph – “Windows 7 is the operating system Vista should have been…”

Cult of Mac – “I need to go wash my eyes out with bleach.”

The Inquirer – “Windows 7 is as pretty as Apple stuff, just as easy to use, and does not treat you like a moron.”

Computer World – “…it’s finally time to upgrade.”

Gizmodo – “…if you’re coming from Windows XP, Windows 7 will totally feel like a revelation from the glossy future. If you’re coming from Vista, you’ll definitely go “Hey, this is much better!” the first time you touch Aero Peek. If you’re coming from a Mac, you’ll—hahahahaha. But seriously, even the Mactards will have to tone down their nasal David Spadian snide, at least a little bit.”

Windows 7 Launch day..BooOOOoommm!

Win7

Just in case you forgot, Today is the official launch of Windows 7.  People will be able to buy in stores as of Today. I am really considering getting a copy. Amazon said that they received more pre-orders for Windows 7 than Harry Potter, making Windows 7 the biggest pre-order product to date.

You have a choice of Home (green), Professional (blue) and Ultimate (black). Here is a list that compares the features of each copy. Looks like it’s going to be professional for me.

Cheers
