I don’t normally post political crap on here, but I feel I had to say something about the latest award of the Nobel peace prize for 2009. The US President Barack Obama. Now.. don’t get me wrong here, I have nothing against Pres. Obama, but doesn’t getting the peace prize mean you have to contribute in somehow towards peace? Pres. Obama did not expect this and said:
“I do not feel that I deserve to be in the company of so many transformative figures that have been honored by this prize,” he said. “I will accept this award as a call to action, a call for all nations to confront the challenges of the 21st century.”
Which is fair enough… but it still beckons the question, why did he get it? In what way has he contributed towards world peace? Is he not the American President who still sends troops into Iraq to wage War? Is he not the president who ordered and still orders military counter strikes on Pakistan and Somalia? If you ask me he is doing more for in support of War than peace.
Allot of people are asking these questions, and Obama has accepted the award as a “call to action to work with other nations to solve the problems of the 21st century”Critics complain that Obama is slow to end the War in Iraq, troops expecting to come home late 2012.
Anyway, this is just my 2 cents. Let’s hope he lives up to the award…
Cheers
V.
