I consider myself to be an early adopter. That is when it comes to anything online..or tech related. I remember my first Facebook account years and years ago before the world had ever heard of Facebook, back then I still thought Tumblr would become what Facebook has. I remember my first Twitter account, I remember the first Gmail invite I got, one of the lucky few… I remember playing with Windows 7 Beta when Vista was still giving it’s issues (before the patch/Spack).
What are the advantages of being an early adopter? Well.. companies who are early adopters (Have a look at Starbucks and how they are reaping the benefits of being an early adopter) easily reap the big buck rewards later on.
Sadly there’s no financial benefit if you are early adopters on our own, apart from helping friends and family setup the things which you did years ago…
But I simply cannot understand how people can STILL work with IE6, and a 800×600 resolution, purely because they are afraid of change.
Embrace change!! It’s the only certain thing in this life!
When it comes to Technology, and gadgets, its a little bit of a different story. Being an early adopter requires money. so that explains why it’s not so easy being an early adopter that owns every new gadget. As a matter of fact, I have examples where I use a very old piece of tech, but I must say that has nothing to do with money…or adopting… but purely because of my love for that specific piece of tech.
