Quite obviously the 2 albums that have made an impression on me was the Slash album, and the latest Bullet for my Valentine Album. Currently on a Depeche Mode vibe.

New Slash Album, to-be-Awesomeness!!!

Slash really is going all the way with his new album, I just watched a video straight from MetalHammer, giving a behind the scenes look at the making of the album. Working with all those Rock, and Pop icons must be pretty darn cool! Just a few of them are M.Shadows from A7X, Lemmy from Motorhead, Ozzy, Fergie from Black Eyed Peas, Kid Rock, Chris Cornell, the dude from Cypress Hill, Dave Grohl…etc.

Here’s the line-up, have a look at all them artists… it’s a strange combination… but I simply can’t wait to give this album a listen:

1. “Ghost” (feat. Ian Astbury & Izzy Stradlin) 3:34
2. “Beautiful Dangerous” (feat. Fergie) 4:35
3. “Nothing to Say” (feat. M. Shadows) 5:27
4. “Crucify the Dead” (feat. Ozzy Osbourne) 4:04
5. “Promise” (feat. Chris Cornell) 4:41
6. By the Sword(feat. Andrew Stockdale) 4:50
7. “Doctor Alibi” (feat. Lemmy) 3:07
8. “Saint is a Sinner Too” (feat. Rocco DeLuca) 3:28
9. “Watch This” (feat. Dave Grohl & Duff McKagan) 3:46
10. “I Hold On” (feat. Kid Rock) 4:10
11. “Gotten” (feat. Adam Levine) 5:05

Metal News recap

Alright, quite a lot happened in the world of heavy metal over the last 2 weeks. Here’s a recap:

1. Slash is almost releasing his new solo album, (called “Slash”.. duuuhh). Here is a cool interview, via MetalHammer. The coolest thing is, M shadows (Avenged Sevenfold) is featuring, together with Cypress Hill and Fergie (Fergie..wtf??)

2. MegaDeath is reunited once again. Wh00p!

3. Bullet for My Valentine, is finally.. FINALLY..bringing out some news on their new and highly anticipated ($%#% their Coke-fest show to SA was canceled because of this) 3rd album. What do we have? The title of one song. The first single off the album will be called “Your Betrayal”. I can’t say I am too excited, if this is anything like their second album, then it is gonna SUCK old donkey balls.

4. More Slash news, he revealed his top 10 Metal riffs of all time, together with his top Metallica riff of all time. And most people (except the hardcore fans) will know this song, its ‘disposable heroes’ off Metallica’s Master of Puppets album.

“This one’s off of Master of Puppets, which is the ultimate Metallica album of all time,” Slash told Paste. “I love the rhythm and timing on this one, and it’s got a real sinister drive to it, too. Like you just know something bad’s about to happen.”

Slash’s top 10 guitar riffs of all time are:
1. ‘Black Dog’ – Led Zeppelin
2. ‘Over Under Sideways Down’- The Yardbirds
3. ‘Purple Haze’ – Jimi Hendrix
4. ‘More of that Jazz’ – Queen
5. ‘Life in the Fast Lane’ – The Eagles
6. ‘Disposable Heroes’ – Metallica
7. ‘Superstition’ – Jeff Beck
8. ‘Show Your Love’ – Van Halen
9. ‘Back in the Saddle’ – Aerosmith
10. ‘I Want You (She’s So Heavy)’ – The Beatles

Slash quits Guns ‘n Roses

Travel back in time, travel back exactly 13 years Yesterday, and it would have been the day Slash decided to quit the Rock’Roll Hall of fame band Guns ‘n Roses. I managed to dig up this old, but original article on Rolling Stone Magazine:

The war of the roses is over. Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash has quit the band. In a fax sent to MTV on Tuesday night, lead singer Axl Rose said that Slash hasn’t been musically involved with the band since April 1994 and the business relationship between the two was dissolved in December 1995. Rose owns the Guns N’ Roses moniker and could continue under that name, but the singer issued an ultimatum to bassist Duff McKagan and drummer Matt Sorem, saying that if they didn’t get their act together in the studio, there would be no more Guns N’ Roses.

Slash responded by saying: “Axl and I have not been capable of seeing eye to eye on Guns N’ Roses for some time. We recently tried to collaborate, but at this point, I’m no longer in the band. I’d like to think we could work together in the future if we were able to work out our differences.”

A source close to the band said the two have squabbled repeatedly over musical direction; Rose wants the band to continue to evolve while Slash prefers the blues-based hard rock sound that made them famous. The two also disagree on who should replace rhythm guitarist Gilby Clarke. Rose wants his close friend Paul Huge, but according to the source, “Slash can’t stand him.”

Rose reportedly has 15 new songs ready to go for the next GNR record, and McKagan has his own material as well. According to another source, Slash’s material written for Guns N’ Ro

Slash is considered the #2 Best Electric Guitarist in the World, voted by Time Magazine. Most of us will recognize Slash on most of the Guitar Hero boxes. Slash, tribute to you!
