This years District 9?

The movie “Monsters” is already being labeled as this years district 9. Here’s the just of it:

Six years ago NASA discovered the possibility of alien life within our solar system. A probe was launched to collect samples, but crashed upon re-entry over Central America. Soon after, new life forms began to appear and grow. In an effort to stem the destruction that resulted, half of Mexico was quarantined as an INFECTED ZONE. Today, the American and Mexican military still struggle to contain the massive creatures… Our story begins when a jaded US journalist (McNairy) begrudgingly agrees to find his boss’ daughter, a shaken American tourist (Able) and escort her through the infected zone to the safety of the US border.

Sounds pretty cool. I am in need of a good sci-fi movie. Checkout the trailer:

Scariest Childhood Movie.

What is your scariest childhood movie? I have to go back to the late 80′s early 90′s. Immediately there is one film that comes to mind. But first, here are some worthy mentions:

Child’s Play: Who can forget Chucky, the vicious killer doll with the soul of a serial killer. This movie had an impact on my life. Pretty hectic. I can’t believe I watched this movie when I was so young… I think I turned out ok.

Jaws: Not necessarily for the scare factor, but rather for the psychological impact this movie had on me, man I was scared shitless of the ocean after this movie.

The Exorcist: why Oh why did I watch this movie? Extremely disturbing. If there is one film I can erase from my mind, it would be this movie.

In the end it had to be this movie: Stephen Kings “IT”. Holy shit this movie brought to life all kinds of fear in me, and as a kid it probably did damage I never really knew about. The whole shift from seeing a clown as a happy/cheerful thing to something that is scary and evil and horrible. IT is my scariest childhood movie!

Good news is, a reboot is gonna happen. The script is almost complete, check more news on it here.

Who should direct the Hobbit?

As mentioned previously, Guillermo Del Toro pulled out as the Director of the Hobbit. So, the question is, who should be the new director? io9 had a few suggestions, what do you think? Neil Blomkamp? The Wachowskis? Or maybe Sam Riami? Checkout the article here.

Personally I would have LOVED Guillermo, but alas… second choice for me has to be Neil Blomkamp! Just imagine the awesome SMAUG he can create!

Eliza
If you we’re a fan of the Series Dollhouse, then no doubt your a fan of Eliza Dushku. Then you will probably be glad to hear that she is due to be back on the screen, the big screen in a new film Locked in. The plot:

The story moves through the lives of two fragile yet determined people and maps a private geography of love, loss and ultimate redemption. Josh leaves his advertising career at its peak, everyone wants either to be him or to have him. Then he walks away from it all, the money, recognition and the life. A car accident will leave his daughter in a strange coma and when everyone has given up she starts communicating with him, or is he going mad?

From the preview it looks like after having sex with Eliza you can see dead people. Sounds a bit corny… but just check the trailer ok:

4. The Thundercats are back baby! The series got a reboot, and will be re-made! The guy in charge, Executive producer Sam Register says that, “The realism and dynamic visual style we’ve achieved are sure to thrill viewers, and the cool weapons, vehicles and technology should help the show appeal to a diverse audience.” Whoooop!!

5.  Check out this extremely cool invention, self-healing concrete. WTF?? apparently it works, as soon as it cracks some chemical gets released within the concrete which acts as a type of glue which then compensates for the weaker density where the cracks appeared. But, read more about it here.

6. Images leaked onto the interwebs over the costume of Captain America’s new movie. I don’t really know if I like it, it’ looks too much like a combat soldier.
