Heal the world from Home.

Eco

Generally most people want to help. I mean we all have heard the cry of the world, the need for climate change, we all know about the poverty around the world. We know. Most of us simply reply by “but what can I do?”. Well these days using technology you can do a damn-lot! I will be posting more eco-friendly articles than usually..why? Because I can. That’s why.

So for Today I will post 2 easy steps/ways that you can do to help make this world a better place, right there from the seat of your chair, where you are sipping your latte.:

1. Get educated- http://350.org

350 is the most important number in the world—it’s what scientists say is the safe upper limit for carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.

Two years ago, after leading climatologists observed rapid ice melt in the Arctic and other frightening signs of climate change, they issued a series of studies showing that the planet faced both human and natural disaster if atmospheric concentrations of CO2 remained above 350 parts per million.

Everyone from Al Gore to the U.N.’s top climate scientist has now embraced this goal as necessary for stabilizing the planet and preventing complete disaster. Now the trick is getting our leaders to pay attention and craft policies that will put the world on track to get to 350.

They are hosting a worldwide day of action, where people put pressure on their governments to wake-up to climate change. Read everything here.

2. Lend- Kiva.org
You can lend money to poor-in-desperate-need-of-money-entrepreneurs all over the world. The problem generally when someone wants to get out of poverty, is that you need the funds to do so. I present to you Kiva. I love this site. Also one of Al Gore’s initiates, this site lists these struggling yet upcoming people, and you can assist them by lending them money, the whole process is managed by Kiva. So you don’t have to worry about giving money to a dodgy Nigerian.

Note that the idea here is to “Lend”. Once the entrepreneur has managed to get his/her business rolling, they will repay the funds borrowed.

Here’s one of the entrepreneurs:

It is a group that is very responsible with their payments. They live in the same neighborhood where they know each other well. The group is called “Belen”, and this communal bank is in its second cycle. The board of directors is comprised of members who are strict about their collection. They are very united.

Claudia Claros Meneses is the president and leader of the group. She sells handicrafts in the regional fairs and on national holidays. She lives in the family house, and she has two children. Her husband works independently as a locksmith.

Maria del Carmen Torrico Guzman, the treasurer, is very responsible and sociable. She is married and has two children. She is a street vendor, and she sells toilet paper. The loan is to increase capital.

Eliana Elvia Sagardia, the secretary, is a young, single member. She has a neighborhood store, which has various items. The loan is to increase merchandise. She helps her parents.
