Steven Hawking admits Aliens will kick our asses!

Eco

Steven Hawking recently made some comments on Extra Terrestrial beings and how this situation would play out if they would come across earth:

“We only have to look at ourselves to see how intelligent life might develop into something we wouldn’t want to meet. I imagine they might exist in massive ships, having used up all the resources from their home planet. Such advanced aliens would perhaps become nomads, looking to conquer and colonize whatever planets they can reach….. If aliens ever visit us, I think the outcome would be much as when Christopher Columbus first landed in America, which didn’t turn out very well for the Native Americans.”

Gotta love Steven… coming from one of the most brilliant minds of the century, I think we need to consider what he said… seriously…

Top 10 Coal Burning Countries in the World.

Eco

This via Treehugger. A list of the 10 countries that burn the most coal, hence release the most tons of Co2 into the air.

Here’s the list (population of the country in brackets at the end).

#10 South-Korea 112,843 thousand short tons [49,773,145]
#9 Poland 149,333 thousand short tons [38,163,895]
#8 Australia 160,515 thousand short tons [22,326,164]
#7 South Africa: 193,654 thousand short tons [49,320,500]
#6 Japan: 203,979 thousand short tons [127,380,000]
#5 Russia: 269,684 thousand short tons [141,927,297]
#4 Germany: 269,892 thousand short tons [81,757,600]
#3 India: 637,522 thousand short tons [1,180,166,000]
#2 USA: 1,121,714 thousand short tons [309,160,000]
#1 China: 2,829,515 thousand short tons [1,337,210,000]

Now, this list doesn’t mean anything except exactly what it says, the country responsible for releasing the most Co2. I think you have to put this into perspective by adding the population, then you can really understand why countries like USA and China are at the top of this list. I am not making an excuse for coal-pollution. So, taking this into consideration, the countries with the highest coal-pollution with the lowest population ratio is South Africa, Poland, Australia and USA. Granted, we don’t omit nearly as much as India… but we really have no excuse… and with this new multi-billion dollar coal-plant they are going to build… we will be way number one!

Well done SA… topping another list you really don’t want to top.

Dragonforce most popular on Guitar Hero

I love Guitar Hero. The fact that I don’t own a Xbox or a Playstation console yet is beyond me. BUT.. I can say one thing for sure, that I like so many other fans simply love the Dragonforce – Through the fire and flames track. It was (I am not sure if it still is) for a long period the most popular track on Guitar Hero. Checkout this video where the band talks about the track being on Guitar Hero.

Don’t blame apartheid, blame Zuma

This is probably the wisest words I’ve heard ever coming from the mouth of our President, I wonder who wrote it? This is what he said/read:

“We will not be able to blame apartheid if villages still have no water, no electricity, no roads. We will not be able to blame anyone else if children still study under trees, if houses and schools are falling apart.”

So the question is, who do we blame then? You are pointing the finger at yourself Mr. President. You are the one who is not delivering on all your promises.

He also decided to share his HIV status, “after careful consideration”, which seems to be negative.

I’m sorry Mr President, but you need to start delivering on some of the things you so boldly claim, before I get an ounce of respect for you. Domkop of the week!
