Hey Rich People.. Give it Away Give it Away Now!!

Eco

Say what you want, I love Bill Gates. Not only him, but also Warren Buffett. Here you have the 2 richest people in the world, that finally got what it’s all about. They realized that as you came into this world, you will leave it. They saw a tremendous need in this world.. and they are doing their best to resolve it.

Like I said.. money can do just about anything.

But I’ve got nothing but respect for these 2 guys. They started this thing called “The Giving Pledge”. They encourage the world’s riches people to give away AT LEAST 50% of their money toward philanthropic causes… they are making progress! Have a look at the pledge list:

http://givingpledge.org/

You see, I would not give away 50% of my wealth. But there comes a point in ones life when you just have such a crap load of money, that you don’t know what to do with it… you have your Jet, your islands and beach houses in every coastal country. These people are the ideal candidates for “The Giving Pledge”. Kudos to Bill and Warren! You guys are awesome!!

Oil Pipeline Explosion…

Eco

This is what a serious F*%^up looks like… straight from Boston Big Picture:

The oil spill resulting from a pipeline explosion in the port city of Dalian on July 16th  is being cleaned up by a small army of fisherman, locals, and government workers manning over 250 oil-skimming vessels and 8,000 fishing boats – much of the work being done by hand. The spill, now contained according to authorities, grew to 430 square kilometers (165 sq mi), but was prevented from fouling international waters. The explosion was due to improper desulfurizer injections into the pipeline, according to a report by Xinhua, China’s state news agency. As workers continue their efforts and watchdog groups like Greenpeace level criticism for what they call an inadequate response to date, Dalian Port has already resumed operations at two of its oil berths, the company said on Sunday.

Finally, BP Oil Leak Stopped.

Eco

Finally!! After nearly 3 months of thousands of gallons of oil gushing into the ocean BP managed to cap it! The damage to the environment is simply astounding… now the cleanup can begin! This will be remembered as the greatest ecological disaster ever to date.

Read more here via CNN:

The move was lauded by a variety of officials as a positive step, accompanied by a strong note of caution that the cutoff was simply part of the test, as BP and government experts try to assess how the well is holding up.

The test got under way after two days of delays, first as government scientists scrutinized testing procedures and then as BP replaced a leaking piece of equipment known as a choke line.

The data are being particularly closely scrutinized at six-hour intervals. Higher pressure readings mean the well is containing the oil, while lower pressure means some is leaking out.

The “well integrity” test could end after one of the six-hour periods, if the results are disappointing. But it could go on for 48 hours. The longer it goes, the better indications are that the well is holding with a custom-made sealing cap.

Phew… finally..
